Leaside is a wonderful affluent family neighbourhood in Central Toronto. Leaside is located north and south of Eglinton Avenue East, west of Bayview Avenue and east of the railway.
Leaside was founded by the Lea family in the early 1800's. Most growth began in the early 1900's when the railway was built but stalled during WW1. Leaside to this day has that small town family feeling amongst Toronto. Bayview Avenue stll offers both boutique and big box stores and makes for a wonderful stroll through the neighbourhood.
Leaside residence can enjoy nature and fitness throughout. Serena Grundy Park, Sunnybrook Park and numerous others a paradise away from the city with playgrounds and paths of serenity. Trace Manes Park has the Leaside Tennis club and a wonderful playground for the kids, baseball diamond and the popular outdoor rink. Talbot Par at Leaside High has a rich tradition with the Leaside Baseball league. Leaside arena has always been the centre of the neighbourhood boasting top hockey and figure skating next to the Leaside Curling Club.
Transportation is a plus with a strong bus routes throughout the neighbourhood. The new Eglinton Subway line is to open in the next year. You are just minutes to the DVP and you have the Bayview Extension for a quick route to downtown Toronto.
Leaside Real Estate:
Leaside offers large lots. Most older homes offer wood trim and hardwood floor throughout. Leaside has an excellent selection of all types of homes from new condos to bungalows to large detached Tudors. Most homes were built in the 30's and 40's and have been updated throughout the years. Many Bungalows have add a 2nd storey or has been replaced with 2 storey luxury houses. All houses are on quiet tree lined streets that has made this neighbourhood most desirable. Prices in Leaside are over a million and most are in the multi million range, though Leaside has more than proven the value of the homes on their large lots.
